Basic Fuchsin is a magenta dye that is a combination of rosanilin hydrochloride, pararosaniline, new fuchsine and magenta II. Basic Fuchsin is a dark green crystal often used in the laboratory where it is employed to stain bacteria and in the fabrication of Schiff reagent. It is made up of a combination of rosanilin hydrochloride, pararosaniline, new fuchsine and magenta II. Basic Fuchsin also has uses in the textile industry, and has many other names, including Basic Parafuchsin, Basic Red 9, Paramagenta Hydrochloride, and Pararosaniline Chloride.
