This comb is designed for preparative or low-throughput applications where larger sample volumes are required. Unlike the standard 8, 12, or 16-well combs, this 5-tooth version provides wider wells. This is ideal for preparative electrophoresis, and larger sample volumes. In a standard 5 mm deep gel, a 1.5 mm thick well on a SUB6 system typically holds significantly more volume than the standard 1 mm combs (likely upwards of 50–70 µL per well depending on tooth width).
