Description
Lab Armor Thermal Beads (Catalog 42370-002) are a high-performance, dry metallic media designed to replace water in standard laboratory baths or ice in ice buckets. This 2-liter unit consists of small, non-uniform aluminum alloy beads that create a “waterless” environment, significantly reducing the risk of microbial contamination that often occurs in stagnant water baths. Because the beads are dry and naturally antimicrobial, they eliminate the need for harmful germicides and the constant maintenance of emptying, cleaning, and refilling traditional baths.
The technical advantage of Lab Armor beads lies in their high thermal conductivity and energy efficiency. A bead-filled bath can remain “always on” without the risk of burnout from evaporation, and it uses up to 4x less energy at 65°C than a traditional water bath. The beads flow fluidly to conform to any vessel shape—including multi-well plates, petri dishes, and non-watertight containers—allowing them to be held securely at any angle without the use of racks, floats, or weights.
