MacConkey Agar is a differential and selective culture medium designed for the growth and differentiation of Gram-negative bacteria. It is especially effective in identifying lactose-fermenting bacteria.
- Lactose Fermenters: Produce pink colonies on the surface of the agar.
- Non-Lactose Fermenters: Form pale or colorless colonies.
