The Phenomenex 8E-S029-AGB is a high-performance Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) microplate engineered for the rapid, high-throughput isolation of weakly basic compounds from low-volume samples. Each well in the 96-well polypropylene manifold contains 10 mg of Strata-X-C, a 33 µm polymeric strong cation-exchange sorbent. Unlike traditional silica-based sorbents, this rugged polymeric backbone resists deconditioning if accidentally dried out during the conditioning or washing steps, entirely eliminating the risk of lost sample recoveries. The uniquely modified mixed-mode chemistry uniformly bonds a sulfonic acid ligand to the polymer, offering three mechanisms of retention (strong cation exchange, pi-pi bonding, and hydrophobic interactions). This strong ionic binding allows researchers to aggressively wash away matrix interferences using 100% organic solvents, resulting in ultra-clean extracts that significantly improve LC-MS/MS sensitivity while utilizing minimal elution volumes due to the highly efficient 10 mg sorbent mass.
