Tecan Microplate Reader 485 nm Filter for GENios Series

Description

The 485 nm filter for the Tecan GENios series is perhaps the most widely used optical component in the system. In the GENios architecture, these filters are mounted into specialized excitation or emission filter slides.

Core Applications

The 485 nm wavelength is the industry standard for “Blue-to-Green” fluorescence protocols:

• FITC & GFP Detection: Ideal for measuring green fluorescent protein (GFP) expression or any assay using Fluorescein-based labels.

• DNA/RNA Quantification: Used with dyes like PicoGreen or Quant-iT to measure nucleic acids in 96-well or 384-well formats.

• Cell Viability & ROS: Supports assays such as Calcein-AM for live-cell staining or DCFDA for measuring reactive oxygen species (ROS).

• BCA/Bradford Protein Assays: In absorbance mode, while 562/595 nm are peaks, 485 nm is sometimes used as a secondary wavelength for specific colorimetric readouts.
